Steve Cavalcanti

STEVE CAVALCANTI

Steve Cavalcanti is a Brazilian artist living in the United Kingdom for the past 20 years.

With a background in photography and traditional illustration, Steve created Tivo Studios four years ago, using his skills to create adult animations for a great diversify of topics like musical videos, intros, funny sketches, parodies and social commentary.

“Everything I do has a personal touch.”

Steve Cavalcanti – 2D Animator

Hello Steve, can you tell us about the work you’re doing with Cartoon Animator 4?

Right now I’m working as a freelancer creating music videos for singers like the Berlin artist Mavin from realrandomrecords, the New York singer song writer Susan Wendelken and Washington artist Daniel D.Howell. Corporate videos can be very different, sometimes it is just a logo intro for their company training or full length animation to advertise lawyers offices, car rental or anything that a company may want to give a fun spin on something normally seen as boring.

Animated ads are a great way to get the attention of their customers and employees. Helping YouTube influencers is also something I do from time to time.

Why did you choose Cartoon Animator 4 as the platform to create your content?

I was a professional photographer, but after an accident 4 years ago, I was unable to work for almost a year. I had a copy of CrazyTalk Animator on my computer that I was promising myself to learn but never had the time and the energy after a long day. But as I was already home with time I decide to have another go to see if this time I was able to get it and I fell in love straight away.

Pretty soon I upgraded to Cartoon Animator 4 which had so many new features I was able to use to make my videos even better. The flexibility to be able to create a quality animation on the fraction of time than regular animation, like I said before, is really intuitive and becomes second nature pretty fast. You can do serious work but still have fun with it.

Do you find the process of creating characters and content for Cartoon Animator 4 easy and enjoyable?

Because I am a photographer I was already quite familiar with Photoshop and was able to create my own characters for Cartoon Animator 4. Although the characters you can buy are excellent, my animations are very personal to me, so I need to make sure that that everything I do has a personal touch,  something that tells you “that is a Tivo Animations animation “. Cartoon Animator 4‘s workflow makes everything so fluid that it becomes second nature after a while and really fun.

Do you have plans for future content in the works?

Parallel to my work for others I still try to find time to add new animations to my own YouTube channel. I try to diversify the content on my channel.  My last upload was a music video where the Justice League were defending the population against the invasion of the Corona Virus. The fictional heroes were a metaphor for our health workers as they are the real heroes. On my channel I am always creating fresh new topics and giving my sincere take on them.

What projects have you most recently been working on?

I recently did a really fun job for a talented singer. The songs title is “I want the 80’s back”. As a child of the 80’s I was able to play around with a lot of imagery from my childhood, so I included many icons like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, ET , the Rubiks Cube, Pacman and all that 80’s aesthetics with bright colours and neon lights. At the moment I’m working on my next music video which is a Canadian rap song.
