DAZ User Harnesses Character Animation with iClone
CGSociety covers the story on how indie filmmaker/3D artist – Solomon W. Jagwe created his solo film NaEEXUS in 30 days by using DAZ3D Content and Character Creator 3 (CC3).
“I was able to create the film in the space of 1 month. This was made possible by the awesome 3D models and characters, that I used from the DAZ3D marketplace which are very well textured and rigged. I didn’t have to model any of the characters or environments. Utmost Creatives Film from Philippines is making a magical and unique film titled MY BEAST FRIEND, by combining animation with live actors through a story of friendship and acceptance between a boy and a beast named ‘HUG’.
In their film, they are using iClone and it’s Motion LIVE motion capture technology with Faceware Realtime for iClone, to animate and render their CG protagonists in order to cut down on production time and meet their movie deadline.

Last month VIZARTS Lab 1 was held at Aalborg University, in Copenhagen where students, directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, producers, animators, programmers, designers and researchers got together for three days to explore real-time motion capturing technologies to create innovative cases for engaging storytelling.
At the event Tommy Thore Ipsen, from World For Story Studios – showcased how his team is using iClone’s Motion LIVE mocap platform and realtime animation tools, with Rokoko motion capture suits, to create augmented reality apps that engage audiences.

Independent film director/animator Solomon W. Jagwe reviewed Reallusion’s new Motion LIVE mocap platform, and how it helped him achieve multiple animation goals within a short time, all within the confines of a limited budget!
Solomon used a Perception Neuron 2.0 motion capture suit together with an iPhone Xas motion capture hardware by simultaneously connecting them with iClone. This gave Solomon the freedom to act out the different parts of his characters, while creating banks of animations that he can could later reuse for his new, animated children’s TV series – The Adventures of Nkoza & Nankya.

Face tracking solutions using smartphones were part of several technologies shown at SIGGRAPH, but one that seemed particularly accessible was Reallusion’s LIVE FACE for iPhone X. When Cartoon Brew tried out LIVE FACE, a 3D character head moved and performed lip sync simply from our facial movements live in front of an iPhone.
