KuBi Studio

Hi there. I am Brian, the founder of Kubi Studio. Kubi Studio provides professional 3D art outsourcing solutions since 2016.

I’m obsessed with Next Generation video games from characters, character costumes, to monsters and scenes. In my point of view, 3D artists are the dreamers and creators of virtual worlds, as we combine our life experiences, aesthetic feelings and perceptions into our creations, while making characters lifelike and meaningful. I really enjoy the process of creation!

Q1: Please tell us a bit about your background and your work. When and why did you start working on 3D model design?

Well, like most people, I liked to play video games since my childhood. And I really didn’t think that I could have the chance to be part of the industry, and really implement my creations in games. This has been one of the most interesting aspects of my career, and I will definitely continue to create more great 3D arts in the future.

Q2. You mentioned that you mainly work in 3D art outsourcing projects, what changed your mind to create your own artwork?

Besides game model creation– building up my own brand and create something with my own style was always one of my goals. I happened to learn about the Reallusion Incubation Program, so I decided to give it a try to realize my dream.

It’s was a brand new challenge, but an interesting one! I’m satisfied with the results, and I do think that the Reallusion Content Store & Reallusion Marketplace are very good platforms for both 3D artists and 3D players to enter.

Q3: Besides iClone and Character Creator, what other software do you use? Any samples of your work?

I used Photoshop, 3ds Max and Body Painter at the beginning of my career. The main type of game projects I took at that time were mobile games and online games. For example, I was in charge of making monsters and characters in Gladius Regalis published by Chinese Gamer in 2010, and participated in an indie game studio to create avatars for Basketball Gangs II in 2016. I conducted every project in a solid and traditional way, so most of the time using the software mentioned above was quite enough.

Later I exposed myself to Next Generation creations because of my friends, and I got to know and be more familiar with using multiple software to enrich my creations. The software included; Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, 3D Coat, XNormal, UV Layout, Marmoset Toolbag, and others.

And of course iClone and Character Creator are included!

Q4: What can the community expect from you in the future?

I plan to create more character outfits and accessories based on the trends, market demands and my interests.

Meanwhile, while I am polishing my 3D creation skills, I expect turn myself into a 5D artist — skilled in both 2D and 3D, so that I can best present my 3D works in the Reallusion Content Store.
